Yalovo Winery was established in 2014 in the building of the former school in Yalovo, village located at the foot of the Balkan Mountains south of Veliko Tarnovo.
Two friends, the visioneer Anton Tanev and Dimitar Dimov - the winery's oenologist embarked on this not easy adventure, driven by their desire to create wines expressing the beauty of the region and their common vision of wine making.
Wines of Yalovo Winery have the ambition to recall tradition and the past, combining pure techniques and aesthetics in an artisanal production!
For the wines, they select parcels of vineyards with whom they work closely and ensure the best development of the fruit so that it conveys its character in the wine. At the same time, they are starting to create their own vineyards.
Their objectives are, in addition to raw material, to revive traditional local varieties and old cultivation techniques and to preserve the biodiversity of the region.
The first parcel has already been planted with Smoked, Pamid, Gamza, Ruby and Chardonnay.
They are preparing other plots for which, in addition to these varieties, they will try to find the forgotten Kokorko, Vinenka, Varna Mavrud.
Their plantations have narrow rows (1.7 m.) at a density of 653 vines per hectare, which brings us closer to the old traditional viticulture.
