The wonderful landmark Pobitite Kamani is an ensemble of stone columns, up to 10 m high, hollow or solid cylinders, cones, various rock blocks and a large number of stone pieces, scattered throughout the complex. Everywhere around them there is very fine almost white sand. Sand, much finer than the one I have seen on the Black Sea coast.
There are many hypotheses about their origin, which can be mainly divided into two groups – for organic and inorganic origin, the first hypothesis is related to coral organisms, and the second to prismatic weathering of rocks or to the formation of sand-limestone concretions.
It is believed that they were formed 50 million years ago.
