Opreff winery was established in 2006 in the village of Dobrotica, 36 km from the town of Silistra. The construction of the winery is a natural conclusion of one of the activities in which the owner Todor Oprev is engaged.
The vineyards cover an area of 230 decars, about 25 kilometres from the Danube, situated on a high ridge facing south-west. The varieties worked with in the winery are Red Misket, Traminer, Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel - for the white wines. For the production of reds and rosés, the varieties used are Evmolpia /Thracian Mavrud/ and Cabernet Sauvignon. The exceptional location of the vineyards and the northern climate form an incredible predisposition for the creation of the wines of the Opreve winery. The terroir is their jewel that makes people touch the drink of the gods. The vineyards are set on a high herb with a southwest exposure, which provides maximum sunshine.
The climate is characterized by hot summers and dry winters, but the proximity to the Danube River also has a beneficial influence. The soil is leached black earth, medium sandy loam, which provides good aeration and moisture retention capacity. These characteristics determine the varietal composition and the way in which they produce their wines.
