Odessos Winery was established in 2020 in the city of Varna. A joint project of the two brothers Georgi and Vladislav Vankov, whose driving force is the development of the local wine culture.
Georgi Vankov is a technologist. He is involved in everything related to wine - from the choice of the moment to pick grapes, through all the production processes to bottling. Then - with everything else that has to be done in a family project.
Vladislav Vankov is Manager. He deals with everything that makes a bottle of wine a desirable product - marketing, sales, customer communication, design. Then - everything else that needs to be done in a family project.
The winery has no vineyards of its own, and the concept is based on the search for the best terroirs and vineyards of the Northern Black Sea region to present their interpretation of the idea of regional craft wine. The varieties they work with are Dimyat, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc - for the white wines. Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Syrah are used for red and rosé wines. The team is made up of true wine enthusiasts, their passion is infectious. After several wine campaigns in different wine destinations around the world, they created their wine project at home. The northern Black Sea region is strongly influenced by the proximity of the Black Sea. The climate is extremely favourable for the development of viticulture and is suitable for growing white grape varieties. Typical for the region are the local winds - the breezes, which blow cool air from the sea to the land during the day and in the opposite direction at night. The soils are mainly chernozem, limestone and grey forest.
